Preili Robotics Championship
January 27, 2024

We are inviting you to apply for participation in the "Preili Robotics Championship 2024", which will take place on January 27, 2024 at the Jāņa Eglīša Preiļi State Gymnasium, Kooperatīvā iela 6, Preiļi.

Registration for the competition is until January 19 at 23:59 at http://robotika.pvg.edu.lv/prc2024

Please ensure timely registration of your robots, as it greatly aids the organizers in planning the competition schedule and running smoothly

Event program, result tables and access to the live video broadcast during the event, please visit our website at: https://ieej.lv/prc2024

Regulations:
https://www.pvg.edu.lv/robotika/2024/Presentation/Noteikumi.html

The purpose of the event is to promote the interest of children and young people in engineering and robotics, which is one of the fastest growing industries in the world.

You can arrive at the competition starting at 9:00.
Participant registration will happen from 9:00 to 10:00, and the competition will start after 10:00, running from 10:30 to 18:00.
We'll provide a detailed competition schedule once participants are registered.

Championship disciplines:

  • Line follower - the task of the robot is to drive the given track, which is a black line on a white field, as quickly and accurately as possible.
  • Mini Sumo - positioning themselves as the smallest, but not the weakest sumo robots.
  • Lego Sumo - able to surprise with its universal application.
  • iRobot Sumo - robot vacuum cleaners, creatively modified to fight in the ring.
  • Folkrace - robots compete in an obstacle course that only the most agile and resourceful robots can overcome.
  • Drone competition - the pilot must be skilled enough to pass the obstacle course with a flying robot - drone.
  • Freestyle category - everyone has the opportunity to demonstrate their robotics achievements to a wider audience with LEGO or free-build solutions.
  • Antweight - a discipline in which robots are controlled by a remote control.
  • FLL Challenge - a discipline where you build and program a LEGO robot that completes robot game missions.
  • Maze - the robot has to find and solve the problem of entering and exiting the center of the maze in the fastest possible time.
  • VEX IQ competition - participants must solve the tasks prepared for the competition.
  • WEDO competition - is intended for students of younger grades, whose built robots compete with speed and strength.

Attention to participants of Lego disciplines, because there have been changes in the rules (!!!):

  1. A participant as an operator can be registered in one Lego sumo discipline for only one robot;
  2. For Lego sumo, if a part, weighing more than 5 grams, detaches from the robot during the fight and falls outside the ring, a loss is awarded, except if the part remains on the ring, then the loss is not awarded;
  3. It is forbidden to turn the tire upside down (inside out) and/or put it on another tire already installed on the wheel;
  4. During the Lego sumo match (between fights up to 2 wins), deliberate change of parts of the existing structure or adding new parts to the robot structure is prohibited, except if the part is broken, then the spare part must be identical to the broken part;
  5. If the Lego sumo robot does not move within 10 seconds of the referee's start signal, then the robot is awarded a loss.

Lego sumo students in both age groups are allowed to use only certain LEGO official and licensed, but unmodified parts included in the following robotics sets, such as NXT 2.0, EV3, Spike or Invertor (https://www.pvg.edu.lv/robotika) to build robots /2023/Documents/LEGO_parts.pdf). It is forbidden to use parts that are not included in these sets. On the other hand, in the Lego sumo PRO group, there are no restrictions on the use of parts sets, at the same time they must be LEGO official and licensed, but must not be modified (cut, glued, sanded, etc.). Please note that student robots can be up to 20x20 cm in size, and in the PRO group up to 15x15 cm.

Participation in the event is free of charge, there are restrictions on the number of team members or the age of the participant according to the discipline in which the robot is registered. In several disciplines, participants are divided into age and professional groups.

Photography and filming will take place during the event. By registering and participating in the event, participants give their consent to photography and filming.

Participants are strongly advised to bring a change of shoes for their own convenience.

Participants will have access to classrooms where they can prepare robots for the competition. If necessary, you should bring power extenders - splitters, because there may be a lack of space in the classrooms for electrical sockets. We will not be able to provide participants with extension cords.

Mini sumo and iRobot sumo participants must have gloves with them and, while the robot is not participating in the fight in the ring, safe sleeves must be provided for the robot blades, to not injure other participants.

Pay special attention to the information about catering:
The catering company at Jāņa Eglīša Preiļi State Gymnasium offers a set lunch for 4.10 EUR including VAT (mashed potatoes/fried potatoes, chicken ham/pork cutlet, salad, bun-sweet doughnut, juice in a tetra pack). Details of the bill and/or the number of diners must be sent to the address: gimnazijasednica@gmail.com by January 18.
The catering company will prepare and send an invoice, which must be paid by January 24. If an invoice is not required, then you can pay for lunch in cash at the school canteen on the spot (only cash will be accepted!). In any case, the number of diners must be notified to the catering company! The information is needed so that cooks can predict the number of possible servings.
