Preili robotics championship – January 27, 2018

We are encouraging to apply for participation to Preili robotics championship, which will happen on the 27^th of January 2018 at Jāņa Eglīša Preiļu Valsts ģimnāzija, Kooperatīvā iela 6, Preiļi.

The goal of the event is to further the interest of kids and young people in engineering and robotics, which is one of the fastest growing industries in the world.

Championship disciplines:

• Linefollowing goal of the robot is to finish the track, which is a black line on a white surface, with the most precision and the least amount of time.
• Mini Sumo position themselves as the smallest, but not the weakest sumo robots.
• Lego Sumo can impress with their universal applications.
• iRobot Sumo vacuuming robots, which are creatively changed in order to fight on the ring.
• Mega Sumo the most serious and for viewers the most interesting category, known to everyone for their aggressive style of fighting.
• Folkrace robots compete in an obstacle track, which only the nimblest and the quickest robots can complete.
• Freestyle category everyone has a chance to demonstrate their robotics projects to a wider audience.
• VEX robot competition (WITHOUT previous preparation and WITHOUT own personal robot – come and participate!

Participation in this event is free of charge and there are no limits to the number of registered robots, team size or age of the participant.

Robots can be registered until the 24^th January. We strongly encourage that you register in time, so we can plan the competition timetable precisely.

Especially focus on the information about catering!

Photographing and filming will happen at the event. Participation in the event means the participants are giving the consent of photographing and filming.

Everyone, who are interested in robotics, milestones of Latvia in robotics and chance to see real robot fights, are encouraged to attend the event.

For the comfort of the participants, we strongly encourage bringing shoes to change.

Participants will have access to classrooms, where they will be able to set up their robots for the competition. In the need of surge protectors, one must bring their own, because there might not be enough power sockets in the classrooms. We won’t be able to supply the participants with surge protectors.

Mini sumo and iRobot sumo participants must have gloves and at the time, when the robot is not on the ring, use a protector on the blades, in order to prevent others from injuries.

Catering firm Jāņa Eglīša Preiļu Valsts ģimnāzijā offer lunch for 2.50 EUR (mashed potatoes, pork chop, vegetable salad, bread, compote, bun). Requisites for the invoice and/or the number of people who will need lunch need to be sent to e-mail: arkapr@inbox.lv until 20^th January. Catering firm will prepare and send an invoice, which must be paid until 26^th January. If the invoice is not needed, then it is possible to pay with money at the cafeteria, but either way the number of people eating must be sent to the catering firm! The information is needed, so the chefs can predict the number of people.
