Participation Conditions
Participation is free of charge.
There are no restrictions on the number of registered robots, team members, or participant age — except where a discipline's rules define age or skill groups.
If a participant registers a robot in the PRO category, they may not register a robot in student/amateur/beginner groups.
In certain disciplines (LEGO Sumo, LEGO Freestyle, Freestyle, Mini Sumo), a participant may register only one robot per discipline. See discipline rules for details.
Attention — LEGO Discipline Participants
An operator may be registered for only one robot in a single LEGO Sumo discipline.
A LEGO Sumo robot receives a loss if a part (> 5 g) detaches during a match and falls outside the ring; if the part remains on the ring, no loss is awarded.
It is prohibited to reverse a tyre (inside out) and/or place it on top of another tyre already mounted on the wheel.
During a LEGO Sumo match (best of 2 wins), replacing or adding parts is prohibited; exception — a broken part must be replaced with an identical one.
If a LEGO Sumo robot does not move within 10 seconds of the referee's start signal, the robot is awarded a loss.
Robot size limits:
LEGO Sumo students up to 12 yrs. — up to 20 × 20 × 30 cm LEGO Sumo students 13+ yrs. and PRO — up to 15 × 15 × 20 cm
The robot may expand in size after the start — by no more than 10 cm from its initial dimensions.
In both LEGO Sumo student age groups, only official, licensed, and unmodified LEGO parts are permitted (NXT 2.0, EV3, Spike or Invertor): LEGO parts list. In the LEGO Sumo PRO group, parts must be official and licensed LEGO parts and must not be modified (cut, glued, sanded, etc.).
Safety
Robots must be kept in a safe state outside the arena.
In Robot Battle disciplines, participants must follow the organizers' designated safety zones and instructions.
MiniSumo and iRobot Sumo participants must bring gloves, and while the robot is not competing in the ring, safe blade covers must be in place.
Organizers reserve the right to disqualify a robot if it does not meet safety requirements or poses a risk to others.
Photos & Video
Photography and filming will take place during the event. By registering and participating, participants consent to being photographed and filmed.
